If you start to smell an odor from your dryer, it is probably dryer lint. When lint or debris accumulates on your dryer, there’s an increased risk of fire or other negative effects.

3. There's a build up of dryer lint.

Every time a dryer has not had its ducts inspected and cleaned yearly, lint can clog the dryer vents. If you see lint around the opening of the drier, the port system will need to be cleaned.

4. Dryer is hot on the outside.

When the dryer is unable to exhaust air correctly, the dryer will feel very hot to touch at the end of a normal cycle.

When should I get my dryer vents cleaned?

The Dryer Vent Cleaning Procedure

The dryer duct support that we provide is a cleaning of the entire dryer exhaust system.

This includes everything in the back of the dryer, all of the way out to the terminal cap out.

Our CDET (Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician) will slide the dryer out of the way, eliminate the transition duct, that’s the piece that connects the drier to the main sheet metal duct in the wall.

We will hand clean the transition duct piece and then clean the entire length of the permanent sheet metal duct that leads all the way to the outside.

This cleaning is done with a combination of our high-powered vacuum and our high-pressured air tools.

We will attach our high-powered vacuum to one end of the duct; when the vacuum is turned on, it will put this duct .

While the duct is under suction, we will nourish our specialized air tools throughout the duct, forcing all of the lint and other debris back to the vacuum connection.

All the debris will be sucked out and collected in the vacuum. The air tools will be fed throughout the entire duct, regardless of its duration or number of turns.

Once all of the lint and other debris has been removed, we will go outside to clean off the terminal cap, and pest guard as well.

We will also make sure the terminal cap opens and closes correctly. If a customer does not have a terminal cap or pest guard, an individual can be set up for them while we are there.

Once the cleaning is finished, we reconnect the drier and put it back in place. The final step would be to cycle the dryer to be certain that it is exhausting properly before we leave.

There are several video’s on youtube of companies that clean air heating vents, but there are none that show how you can clean them yourself. This is a video i made when i decided to try and clean my air ducts by myself. I used a shop vac and a leaf blower to do the entire job.
